Why the weekends are so important...

There's something I like to do on weekends, and I wanted to tell you about it, because I think it'll make a difference for you. I think it's important to take at least an hour or so, and dedicate it to learning more about Internet marketing. Most of us don't take the time to improve ourselves, and so we get stuck in a rut where our income isn't really going up because we're not taking action. I'd like to help you move past that today, so here's a couple of quick action steps for you. 1. Take the time to read at least one of those courses you purchased over the last couple of months, 2. Login and watch the free Web 3.0 internet marketing
training videos you signed up for, but never watched over
at theTRAFFICplan 3. Take a step outside your normal comfort zone and implement something you never tried before This weekend I reread course material, to check my notes and to see which points I didnt implement yet and rewatched videos. It's important to have fun today, but it's just as important to spend a little time becoming a smarter marketer so you can start earning more cash. Your Success

Exhausted? How to Get Your Willpower Back...

If a hard day at work leaves you feeling unable to exercise, you can at least rest easy knowing there's a scientific explanation.

Using your willpower for one task depletes willpower for entirely different task, a new study finds. But there are strategies for getting it back, researchers say.

"Cognitive tasks, as well as emotional tasks such as regulating your emotions, can deplete your self-regulatory capacity to exercise," said study leader Kathleen Martin Ginis, associate professor of kinesiologyat McMaster University.

The study used a Stroop test to deplete the self-regulatory capacity of volunteers in the study. The test consists of words associated with colors but printed in a different color. For example, the word "red" is printed in blue ink.) Subjects were asked to say the color on the screen, trying to resist the temptation to blurt out the printed word instead of the color itself.

"After we used this cognitive task to deplete participants' self-regulatory capacity, they didn't exercise as hard as participants who had not performed the task," Martin Ginis said.

The more people "dogged it" after the cognitive task, the more likely they were to skip their exercise sessions over the next 8 weeks. "You only have so much willpower," she said.

A similar conclusion was reached by a 2003 study in the journal Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research. After completing tasks that required self-control, study subjects had less physical stamina and impulse control and increased difficulty with problem-solving activities. In particular, resisting temptation consumed an important resource that was then less available to help the person persist in the face of failure on subsequent tests.

But you can work on your willpower. "Willpower is like a muscle: it needs to be challenged to build itself," she said.

"There are strategies to help people rejuvenate after their self-regulation is depleted," she said. "Listening to music can help; and we also found that if you make specific plans to exercise - in other words, making a commitment to go for a walk at 7 p.m. every evening - then that had a high rate of success."

By constantly challenging yourself to resist a piece of chocolate cake, or to force yourself to study an extra half-hour each night, then you can actually increase your self-regulatory capacity, the researcher said.

Sleep may also be important. "Most forms of self-regulation failure escalate over the course of the day, becoming more likely and more frequent the longer the person has been deprived of sleep," said Florida State University researcher Roy F. Baumeister, who led the 2003 study.

The new study, detailed Thursday in the journal Psychology and Health, was funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.

An Absurd Marketing Tip is Follow up each lead as if...

...it were from your biggest account. It may be.

Where business comes from is a question that earns the answer, “from the least likeliest sources” in every marketplace in almost every industry. Even in defined customer bases—paper mills, hospitals, supermarket chains—where every potential customer is listed in detailed directories or advertises its visibility, business develops from odd angles and sometimes from odd people.

When you get a lead, you must qualify it immediately.

You have no way of knowing what the situation is unless and until you find out. Call at once. Respond quickly. Send the message you care.

If business is in the pile somewhere, how soon you get to it very well could be an indirect buying queue. Do they want the business? is a question that is asked because it indicates how responsive you might be if you get the business.

The problem is that there is never enough time to keep your existing accounts up and running, so a low priority has to be assigned to lead follow-up. “I know what is going on in my territory” is usually said by those who are close to clueless.

Treat each lead as a Christmas present, no matter when it arrives. Unwrap it as soon as you get it. You may be pleasantly surprised. If it is a lump of coal, you can use it to put some heat on the marketing types for sending it to you.

Marketing Blunders People Make

Have you ever sent out an "advertisement," and much to your
disappointment, received much less of a response than you
had hoped for?

Perhaps a little crash course in marketing psychology is
in order.

You see, there are several mistakes most people make due
to misunderstanding psychology, which result in their
ads simply not working.

What is "marketing," anyway? Here's a neat way to think
about it...

Marketing is actually programming peoples' brains with
your words!

That might sound a little bit harsh, but here's what I
mean.

When you write an advertisement, a web page, an email,
or a sales letter, the real reason you are choosing the
words you're choosing is because you want to influence
your reader's state of mind.

Specifically, most people want to write something that
will put the reader's mind into a state which is "ready
to buy" -- or "ready to sign up."

Now, the key idea here is that what you are trying to
do is use your words to get your readers to think
something.

If your marketing isn't achieving your desired result,
this can literally only mean one thing:
Your words are not causing your readers' minds to be
in the state that you thought they would!
But how could that be?

You wrote out an advertisement so carefully. It even
looks like all those other ones out there.

Doesn't matter. It didn't work.

So, how do you get your readers to think what you want,
then?

Understanding psychology is the key. Because, if you
know how brains work, then you'll really know what to
write to influence them the way you want.

Of course, the field of psychology is huge -- you can
get a Ph.D. in it. But, here are 3 psychological tips
you can use to your advantage.

Be warned: Some of them may seem counterintuitive to
you. But, remember! Maybe you need to try something
counterintuitive.

After all, the techniques you thought were intuitive
haven't worked as well as you wanted, right?

If they had, then you probably wouldn't have read
this article!

TIP #1: At all costs, avoid looking like an
advertisement.
In this day and age, when people see something that
they know is an advertisement, they immediately
tune it out.

For proof of this, just look at your own behavior.

Would you spend your free time reading ads?

Probably not.

An advertisement is usually classified as something
whose sole purpose is to sell something.

So, the best way to avoid looking like this is to
actually give people some real information, for
free. That's what we do at theTRAFFICplan

This way, what you wrote won't seem like an ad,
because it actually isn't one!

People will read it for your interesting info, and
then when it's time to talk about what you're
selling, they'll really listen, too.

Try it.

Tip 2 next time....

It's Words That Sell

To sell more, write better. Make the most productive use of words, words that address the needs and wants of your customers.

The right words will overcome a mediocre look-and-feel. But use the wrong words, and even the most professional-looking site will be instantly destroyed.

Pretty serious stuff, especially when so many people think..

What the heck is Web 3.0 ?

What the heck is Web 3.0 ?

It's Web 1.0 + Web 2.0 = WEB 3.0

As you know, Web 1.0 was simply an acronym for eCommerce. Back then, retail stores wanted to do business on the internet rather than just using expensive retail storefronts. Many saw the power of the internet to attract an entirely new audience that may not have had the chance to visit their store in person. This would without doubt give them access to more potential customers for less cost.

Web 2.0, in its simplest definition and use today, has become an acronym for the everyday person's ability to communicate and collaborate globally using Social Networking. It has made things more user friendly to us, and as such, companies have come to embrace these new design and communication formats to engage with their customers.

Web 3.0 brings these two worlds together for the average person to be able to harness the power of the internet to begin to profit with multiple streams of income online by introducing products and services to their groups of followers (also known as their list and also as their tribe).

Great Way To Get Customers

A friend had a car that was embarrassingly dirty. He had been too busy to take it in to be washed, let alone do it himself.

One day he found a business card on his windshield for a car washing service, he was interested. He looked around the parking lot. Only dirty cars had the card.

The card advertised a deal for an introductory wash. Better yet, they would come to your home or place of business and do the job there. Perfect for him. Couldn’t be more convenient.

He called and set up an appointment.

My brother and I used to do something similar with the lawn cutting business we had as teenagers. We would ride around on our bikes and look for yards with grass that looked like it needed a mowing. When we found one, we’d knock on the door and ask if they would like to hire us.

We had all the work we could handle.

Even in today’s economic environment, you can have a thriving business.

All you need to do is use this “Dirty Car Approach.” You target people who have a strong need for your product or service. If they need it, they won’t be able to do without it. And they will pay you to provide it.

How a strange accident helped me make money

Using Email Marketing

Email marketing is important in the business you’re in. Marketing is based on communication, either with your exisiting costumers or prospective customers. Email marketing is an easy way to communicate.

Email marketing is one of the cheapest marketing tools you’ll find. We use AWeber, at only $19 a month.

With AWeber, you can reach your contacts easily and over and over again.

When you collect information about your current or potential customers it’s important that you collect their names during the sign-up process or following a purchase. AWeber will let you insert their names into a mass email. Your e-mail message will start out addressing each customer personally and will arrive to each recipient personalized with their own name.

Studies show that targeted email campaigns such as newsletters or sales announcements with a link to your website have approximately a 30 to 50% chance of obtaining a new customer, a sale or both.

Whatever your goal is with your information, it’s important to build a list of contacts and communicate with them by using email. Email marketing should bring your business up a notch, it’s inexpensive and it’s fairly easy, you won’t spend much time setting it up.

I also suggest you look into Audio Postcards with your emails. Here is a sample I just used very effectively. Enjoy.

Build Your Sales Argument In a Simple, Straight Line

By Nick Usborne

Once you have captured a reader's attention with your headline, don't assume that you will keep that attention after the first line, second line or third line.

Most readers won't read your entire web page. Most will bail well before the end.

How come? Because something you write will make them feel that you are not taking them directly towards finding what they want.

Here are 3 ways to ensure that you keep moving forward in a straight line …

Follow these three guidelines and you will significantly increase the number of people who read all the copy on your page and, of course, you will increase the number of people who take action at the end of that page.

#1. Be clear about your page's objective.

Before you start writing, determine the objective of the page. What is its purpose?

And if you're thinking, "Well, there are a few things I want to achieve with this page", be very careful. Because by writing to a few different objectives, you are giving your readers a few different reasons to bail on you.

You'll achieve far higher conversion rates by sticking to a single topic or message per page.

In fact, that's why landing pages were invented. Marketers understood that their general web pages were not converting very well. So they started creating stand-alone pages, or landing pages, which were created with a single objective in mind.

The need for landing pages tells us we are not very good at creating and writing regular site pages that are focused on a single, clear objective.

#2. Let your readers see the final outcome, from the beginning.

In other words, let your readers see where they are going.

For instance, if you want to sell me a vacation in Greenland, let me see the road ahead.

A typical way of doing this would be to write a headline that says something like, "5 reasons why Greenland has become the #1 travel destination for adventure lovers."

When you write a headline like that, the reader knows where you're taking them, and they know you are trying to sell them a vacation. They even know there are exactly five steps between the beginning and end.

But if the headline were to say, "Greenland grabs hearts of outdoor adventurers," then I don't really know where you're taking me. Is this a general description of the country? Is this about travel, or about conservation? Are you trying to inform me? Or sell a vacation package?

When you make the purpose and objective of the page clear from the beginning, the reader doesn't have to be distracted by these questions.

#3. Write in a straight line, without detours.

When writing editorial there are some excellent reasons for taking the scenic route.

You can add character and depth to a story with a paragraph that begins with the words, "Which reminds me … " Or, "By the way … "

These scenic diversions make editorial content all the more interesting.

But when you are writing to sell, you would do better to take the direct route.

When people come to the web to make a purchase, they are task oriented, impatient and anxious to find what they want and get the task completed quickly.

This means readers want their sales information given to them straight. No meandering. No side trips. Get to the meat of the message quickly, and tell them why your product and service will deliver exactly what they want and are looking for.

Conclusion …

The reason behind the need to build your sales argument in a straight line can be found in that last section.

Compared to print or other offline media, users of the web are impatient and generally have a specific goal in mind before they even arrive at your page. If they want to buy something, then they want to find what they want quickly.

No side shows. No diversions.

Keep your sales pages direct, straight and uncomplicated.

Twitter + Facebook = $$$

It's Larry here with another quick Absurd Marketing Training Tip

Lately, it seems that the world has been tweeting abouteverything under the sun and many people are not aware that
Twitter can actually help grow your list, build relationships and gain you more marketing exposure, which leads to more sales.

I've learned some pretty viral tricks on how to use Twitter to
build a fast, and targeted list and also how to link it (on autopilot)
to Facebook where you can build deeper relationships with any
target market and build your list for free.

First some perspective and context

Web2.0 Social networking tools have spun the whole game around.

To build your list before, you had to produce ads or content and
compel people to go to your lead capture page and then make
them offer they couldn't refuse, so they would choose to opt in
to your list...

Used to be easier. These days everyone is on a million lists
and they immediately go to the mindset of "do I really want
to hear this guy's pitch?" - and they may not opt in to your page.

They psychology is different with social networking.

With Twitter and Facebook, the name of the game is expanding
your friends and followers... so people don't even question (majority
of the time) whether to accept to be your 'friend on facebook' or to
follow you back on Twitter...

Result?

People are basically falling over themselves to follow you...

Which means you can grow a targeted base of people who are
reading your posts, and you can build this list very fast and very
free.

The plan is to do a couple things:

1. Grow your list.
2. Build relationships by networking and sharing information
with this list...
3. Periodically drop in quotes, jokes, training tips and links
to your blog posts, or other relevant blog posts and YES, the
link to your newsletter or main lead capture page.

Strike a good balance though so you're not seen
as only a taker... it's all about giving... hunt down and share
good content your followers will enjoy... add some good quotes
that will help motivate people or put a smile on their face with
a funny quote or joke...

Later you can drop in an invitation to your content based
newsletter... and PRESTO! You're building a nice, responsive
list for free...

And you're building up your own brand... people are getting
to know more about you...

If you're posting interesting stuff, human nature takes over
and they'll click on your profile to learn more about you.

You also place your main link to your blog, or facebook page
or your main lead capture page so they can click and see what
you're up to...

It's easy, pretty fun and it's gone mainstream! You've got ESPN,
CNN, big and small celebrities and even major corporations
on twitter now... so it's an everyday piece of relationshipping
for millions of people and they're at your fingertips... POWERFUL.

Now, here's how to combine facebook with twitter.

Why?

You can build deeper relationships and share more content
(videos, pics, blog posts, notes etc) on Facebook than you can
on Twitter.

It's super fast and easier to build up the list
on Twitter... you simply look for people in your niche of
interests and "follow them" - and twitter etiquette almost
requires that they follow you back and engage.

So I use Twitter to build my list faster... and begin to
communicate there.

I then use a free service called
http://www.TweetLater.com
which allows me to set up an automated message I send
to all people who just started following me.

Thinking helps here. Most people are desparate and use
this cool tool to immediately start spamming offers...

WRONG. I'll delete people quick if they do that. How rude!

But what I set up is a message that says something like:

"Hey, thanks for the follow! Let's also connect on Facebook:
I'm at http://facebook.com/wallmann33 - I'll see ya there"

See... simple. Facebook is a place to network on a deeper level.

So every person who follows me back on twitter gets this
message... which causes many of them to also connect and
'friend' me on Facebook.

And I post deeper content and videos, notes and pics on
Facebook so it's a better place to network a bit deeper...

Twitter is like a mixer or a cocktail party
where you're just hanging out meeting people and seeing
who is interesting and sharing info...

Then you take friends you meet at the 'cocktail party' of twitter
and you get together and "do lunch" on facebook!

It's awesome, it's fun and it's really effective.

On facebook you can also search, find and request to
'friend' people to grow your database too.

And there you have it.

Free, viral, relevant list building and relationship
building using Twitter and Facebook.

From there you can invite people to your take a look
at your primary business, your newsletter, your blog
or training videos on youtube... the sky is the limit.
The power is in the list.

I recommend you get started on twitter and facebook
and set up your profile.

Then seek out 10 - 15 influential people in your niche
on twitter and facebook and begin to link to them...

Why?

Chances are they have large databases of targeted people
already...

And when you have large lists of followers, that means
more new people are following you all the time...

It's the velocity effect. As your list grows, YOU are also
seen in more people's lists and more and more people click to
follow you...

So networking with influential people can put your pretty
face in front of LOTS of people fast... see how that works?

You later begin to "drill down" and click on people who are
following those people and add them... and keep drilling down...

Soon enough, your network is broad, and growing virally.

And with your automatic message being sent to them
you'll have plenty of people also following you on facebook.

I'd tweet often to invite people on twitter to also follow me
on Facebook... be proactive and build that list.

You then focus on sharing good information and networking
with people and you'll see your business list and newsletter
begin to grow too.

Go ahead and start this campaign today here by checking
out how I set up my profiles and you can start following
some folks on my list:

http://www.Twitter.com/wallmann
http://facebook.com/wallmann33

You'll be monetizing this list really soon.

If you don't have anything to monetize yet, then take

You Can Write Power Headlines

"How to use the Leverage of the Planet's Easiest and Most

Effective Headline Template to Explode Your Responsiveness"

Did you notice the title for this tip?

Of course, it's a headline. That's right and it uses a age-old classic format which still continues to blow my mind with it's power. Just two little words:

"How To"

Hear me out on this, I know it sounds too easy.

The simple, little "How To" headline is still tops in many pro's books for simplicity and effectiveness. You really cannot go wrong with it. The "how to" headline is so versatile. You can follow it with several benefits, a question, an offer, almost anything - and it works great!

In fact, using the "how to" headline is one of the best places to start when writing headlines because it forces you to think of what your product/service actually does for the person.

Here are a couple of winning examples to get your juices flowing:

* How to fix motorcycles

* How to cruise the world for $19 a day

* How to get Enthusiastic Applause - Even a Standing Ovation - Every Time You Speak (Ted Nicholas)

* How to win friends and influence people

* How to make your car invisible to radar and laser!

* How to make your computer as easy to use as your telephone* How to Collect From Social Security at Any Age

* How to Attract Baby Boomers To Your Internet Business Like The Pied Piper...

* How to Get FIVE Money-Making Web Sites in 29 Minutes Or
Less... Without Spending a Fortune!

* How to avoid the biggest mistake you can make in building or buying a home...

Check out the first winning headline on the list "How to fix motorcycles". I mean it really can't get any simpler than that, but it works and it works GREAT!

"HOW TO BLUEPRINTS"

How to get the most out of _____________

How to avoid ________________

How to end ________________

How to get rid of _______________

How to avoid ________________

How to conquer ________________

How to enjoy ___________

How to get _____________

How to have _____________

How to keep ______________

How to start _____________

Even just adding the word "how" in front of a headline gives it an additional appeal. Compare these 2 examples:

A strange accident saved me from getting fat

How a strange accident saved me from getting fat

Which one is more compelling? I thing you'll agree #2 does the trick. And that one is a winning headline used over and over.

Okay, but maybe the tried and true "how to" is too boring for you. No problem! Spice it up by adding a little something before the "how to"

* Discover how to..
* Here's how to....

* Ohio man discovers the secret of HOW TO escape the American Rat Race

* If you think a 12% annual return on your money is good, here's how to set your sights on 100% or more...

* I'll show you HOW TO hit golf shots as straight as you can point, or this video golfing lesson is free and I'll pay you $25 for wasting your time! (Jeff Paul)

Or if you still want to change it up a little - just use:

* How I earn my living in 4 hours a day

* HOW YOU can Make Well Over $300,000 Per Year As A Real Estate Agent Working Less Than 40 Hours A Week...

I think you'll agree for getting the most bang for your buck - "how to" headlines are the way to go.

Want even more headline formulas, tips and tricks? You better because experts agree that headlines are 70%, 80%, 90% or more of your selling effort. And headlines work for *EVERYTHING* - I'm talking email subject lines, the top of your web page title, articles, blog posts, the first words a sales site/letter starts with, etc...
